This year our Martial Arts Festival consist of 2 parts: \n\nPart A\, the opening ceremony and the excellent performances by the top class martial arts masters from the famous Wudang Mountains\, and the young team of Wayland Wushu Academy\, a top school in Canada\,  and other international martial arts.\nPart B\, the free style Taichi Push Hands competition.\n\nPart A took place already on 29 Sept 2018\, while we are now working on Part B: Taichi Push Hands competition\, so this page only provides detailed info about Part B. \n1. Competition \n\nWhat is Push Hands ? It is a practice method of Taichi\, a dynamic and powerful interaction between 2 students. It is similar to the sport of wrestling.\nWhat is Push Hands Competition world finale? It is the 2019 World Finale (DQS Push Hands Competition in China)\, a large event in Da Qing Shan (i.e. Daqingshan or DQS) Mountain\, a mountain sport resort along the Yellow Sea seaside in Shandong Peninsula China in April 2019. The World Finale prize including cash will be awarded to top winners by organizer in China and sponsors in Rizhao city\, nearby the well known tourism destination Qingdao(German name as Tsingtau)\, a coastal city in China where 2008 Summer Olympics Sailing/Yachting took place(Qingdao International Sailing Centre).\nDo I qualify ? You do not need to have any Taichi background\, no previous qualification required\, because the Competition Rule is so simple\, so the Push Hands Competition is for everyone. We will prepare you with free training\, see the Workshop Schedule below.\nI want to compete\, what is the procedure ? A. you register; B. you attend the free training workshop to learn Push Hands and the rules; C. if you will be selected to be a Team Canada member\, you will be offered uniform and flight to China to win the world title. Contestant Benefit details as below.\n\n1.1. Workshop Schedule: \nThis workshop is for the beginners and to prepare the Push Hands Competition. \n\nTime: 6 Jan 2019 Sunday\, 9:00-10:00am(Form)\, 10:00-11:00am(Push Hands)\nLocation: Bayview Hill Community Centre\, 114 Spadina Rd\, Richmond Hill\, ON L4B 2Y9\nFee: free of charge\n\n  \n1.2. Contestant Benefit: \nAdmission fee is free for general public audience. About Joseph Chen Zhonghua (陈中华)\nJoseph Chen Zhonghua (陈中华)\, courtesy name Dongliang (栋梁)\, born in 1961\, Shandong Province\, China\, is a Chinese martial arts practitioner\, teacher and author. Chen studied with two outstanding eighteenth generation Chen Style Taijiquan (陳式太極拳) experts\, Hong Junsheng (洪均生; 1907 – 1996) and Feng Zhiqiang (冯志强\, 1928-2012). He and his family emigrated to Canada in 1985. This has allowed him to actively promote Hong’s transmission of Chen t’ai chi ch’uan(also known as the Practical Method) through his students\, seminars\, books\, instructional videos and websites around the world. In 2005\, he was designated the International Standard Bearer of Hong’s Practical Method by the Hong family in a ceremony held in Jinan (济南)\, China. Since 2006\, Chen has run a residential taijiquan training program on Daqingshan (“Big Green Mountain”; 大青山)\, Shandong Province (山东省)\, China. Martial arts enthusiast from all over the world can train according to traditional Chen taijiquan methods following the lineage from Chen Fake to Hong and Feng。 \n2. Chen studied with two outstanding eighteenth generation Chen Style Taijiquan (陳式太極拳) experts\, Hong Junsheng (洪均生; 1907 – 1996) and Feng Zhiqiang (冯志强\, 1928-2012). He and his family emigrated to Canada in 1985. This has allowed him to actively promote Hong’s transmission of Chen t’ai chi ch’uan(also known as the Practical Method) through his students\, seminars\, books\, instructional videos and websites around the world. In 2005\, he was designated the International Standard Bearer of Hong’s Practical Method by the Hong family in a ceremony held in Jinan (济南)\, China. Since 2006\, Chen has run a residential taijiquan training program on Daqingshan (“Big Green Mountain”; 大青山)\, Shandong Province (山东省)\, China. Martial arts enthusiast from all over the world can train according to traditional Chen taijiquan methods following the lineage from Chen Fake to Hong and Feng。 \nOrganizer主办单位： 大青山国际太极拳培训中心 Practical Method Taichi Toronto\, MartialArts Association Canada(MAC) 加拿大武艺会，Co-Organizers协办单位： Improve Canada \n[toggles class=”sponsorshipClass”] [toggle title=”Rules of Push Hands 竞赛原则“] \n 一、竞赛原则[badge value=”CN”]（一）在比赛中贯彻太极技击“攻守寓一”、“守中用中”、“制人而不制于人”的原则。（二）双方以手臂触接互为控制，采用推、扑、偏、拧等技术方法，破坏对方身体重心和平衡能力，并使倒地或下擂，体现“引进落空”、“闪战惊弹”的劲力发放效果。二、比赛方式及触发部位（一）每局开始，双方运动员前脚同踩于擂台中心点，互以手臂交叉触接成搭手势，场裁发出“开始”口令后，即可互相攻守。（二）触发部位限于颈部以下、耻骨以上躯干和上肢。（脖子部位不可以放手，顺势可以。）（三）可以手臂开掌直接推扑躯干等有效部位，采用“棚、履、挤、按、挒、採、肘、靠”等技击技法。（四）可以在防守对方进攻时使用单臂支点的反关节技法化解摆脱威胁，不得双手抓握对方手臂施以擒拿固锁，不得在迫使对方反关节时剪切发力。（五）可以在双臂触接的攻防过程中对踝关节以下实行的勾、拦、拌、挂。不得使用扫踢、钩踢、里外勾腿、挑勾子等摔跤技法。三、优势胜利（一）在一场比赛中一方累计分数超出对方达10分时，为该场胜方。（二）双方实力悬殊，裁判长征得总裁判长同意后，可宣布优势方为胜方。（三）比赛中，一方要求弃权，判对方胜。（四）比赛中，因对方犯规造成受伤，经医生检查不能继续比赛，判受伤者为胜方。（五）比赛中一方技术犯规和侵入犯规达到4分，判另一方获胜。四、胜负评定（一）根据运动员的得分多少确定胜负，得分多者为胜方。（二）得分相等时，以体重轻者为胜方；仍相等时，分别按警告、劝告多少计算，少者为胜方；再相等时加赛，先得分者获胜。五、得分（一）得3分：凡运用规则允许的技击方法将对方发放倒地得3分。（二）得2分：侵入犯规者被警告一次，对方得2分。（三）得1分：1、使对方出界或倒地时，自己后出界或后倒地者得1分。2、技术犯规者被劝告一次，对方得1分。六、罚则（一）凡有以下行为者，给予劝告。1、使用硬拉、硬拖、硬抱者。2、双手插入对方腋下相持达6秒没有进攻动作。3、故意造成对方犯规者。4、单、双手抓住对方衣服或双手死握对方者(顺势除外)。5、裁判未发“开始”口令进攻对方，或已发“停止”口令仍进攻对方者。（二）凡有以下行为者，给予警告。1、使用拳打、头撞、指戳、抓头发、撅手指、肘尖顶、捞裆、扼喉等动作者。2、攻击规则中规定以外的身体部位者。3、比赛中对裁判员不礼貌或不服从裁判者。（三）凡有以下行为者，取消比赛资格及已取得的比赛成绩1、在比赛场上对裁判员谩骂、围攻、侮辱者。2、故意攻击对方严禁攻击部位者。 \n  \n  \nRules[badge value=”EN”]\nA. Objective\n\nControl the opponent\nDestroy the opponent’s centre of gravity or balance\nEntice the opponent into emptiness\nBouncing the opponent\n\nB.  Match Format\n\nThe athletes participate in two 2-min rounds with one 1-min break in between.\nAt the beginning of every bout\, both athletes step on the centre of the mat\, and touch each other at the wrist and elbow to get ready. After the referee signals “start”\, they begin the attack.\nThe hands are only allowed to contact area below the neck and above the legs of the opponent. The legs and feet are only allowed to contact the legs and feet of the opponent.\nPushing is allowed\nThrowing is allowed\nTripping is allowed\nSweeping is allowed.\nNo punching.\nNo direct hitting.\nNo kicking above the ankles.\nNo joint locking.\nNo leg grabbing\nNo attack on vital parts\, e.g. eyes\, throat\, groin\, etc.\nWhen the two competitors are stuck for more than 15 seconds\, the referee may break up the athletes and restart the bout at the centre.\n\nC. Winner Declaration\n\nAt any point of the match\, when one athlete has scored 10 points or more over the opponent\, the athlete with more points is declared the winner.\nAt the end of the match time\, the athlete with more points is declared the winner.\n\nIf both athletes’ scores are the same\, the athlete that is lighter in weight is declared the winner.\nIf both athletes weight the same\, the athlete that committed fewer fouls is declared the winner.\nIf it still remains the same\, an extra round will occur\, the athlete that first scores a point is declared the winner.\n\n\nWhen one athlete requests to abstain from the match or forfeits the match\, the opponent is declared the winner.\nIf one athlete commits more than 4 foul points\, the opponent is declared the winner.\nIf one athlete is injured by the opponent\, the injured person may be declared the winner.\n\nD. It is a practice method of Taichi\, a dynamic and powerful interaction between 2 students. It is similar to the sport of wrestling.\nWhat is Push Hands Competition world finale? It is the 2019 World Finale (DQS Push Hands Competition in China)\, a large event in Da Qing Shan (i.e. Daqingshan or DQS) Mountain\, a mountain sport resort along the Yellow Sea seaside in Shandong Peninsula China in April 2019. The World Finale prize including cash will be awarded to top winners by organizer in China and sponsors in Rizhao city\, nearby the well known tourism destination Qingdao(German name as Tsingtau)\, a coastal city in China where 2008 Summer Olympics Sailing/Yachting took place(Qingdao International Sailing Centre).\nDo I qualify ? You do not need to have any Taichi background\, no previous qualification required\, because the Competition Rule is so simple\, so the Push Hands Competition is for everyone. He and his family emigrated to Canada in 1985. This has allowed him to actively promote Hong’s transmission of Chen t’ai chi ch’uan(also known as the Practical Method) through his students\, seminars\, books\, instructional videos and websites around the world. In 2005\, he was designated the International Standard Bearer of Hong’s Practical Method by the Hong family in a ceremony held in Jinan (济南)\, China.
