Safety · Wisdom · Strategy · Taichi Principles for Real‑World Protection

This special self‑defense program is dedicated to the memory of Sgt. Richard Rogers, former President of the Martial Arts Association Canada, a respected police officer, and a beloved brother in our community.
Richard devoted his life to protecting others and teaching practical, intelligent self‑defense rooted in real‑world experience. This class continues his mission: empowering seniors, women, and all students with the mindset, strategy, and skills needed to stay safe. Level 1 — Opening the Door: A beginner‑friendly introduction to self‑defense that opens a lifelong path in martial arts.

  • Taichi wisdom applied to real encounters — calm mind, sharp awareness, intelligent strategy.
  • “A small person can overcome a big person” through timing, positioning, and mental clarity.
  • Not for competition — this is real‑world self‑defense, not sport.
  • Psychological strength — confidence, presence, and decision‑making under pressure.
  • Practical skills — escapes, leverage, balance breaking, improvised defense.

This class has been developed to preserve the teachings, philosophy, and practical wisdom of Richard Rogers:

  • Preserve Richard’s martial arts philosophy and lifelong commitment to public safety.
  • Provide guidance for internal MAC students and instructors.
  • Promote awareness, prevention, situational judgment, and personal responsibility.
  • Encourage the development of confidence, self-discipline, and a calm mindset under pressure.
  • Honour Richard’s legacy of service, leadership, and protection of others.
